Anus turning black
Why Has My Dogs Anus Turned Black?
I have recently noticed that the skin around my anus area is very dark ( discoloured). Is this normal? Has anybody else ever seen this?.

An anal gland infection is an infection that may have started externally but this is now an internal issue and can not be solved simply by cleaning the dogs anus. Visit a vet If you visit the vet, they will be able to have a look at the dog and most probably give antibiotics to clear up the infection. You may also want to talk to the vet about expressing the dog's bowels so that it is less likely for the infection to reoccur in the future. Expressing the bowels is a process where you press on the anus so that there is a bowel movement when a dog would not usually clear its bowels.
